The powder feeder is an essential component of the Overlay Welding Machine. It is responsible for the storage and transport of powder materials during the Automated Weld Overlay process. At the top of the feeder, there is typically a transparent storage container. This transparent design allows for real-time monitoring of the motor’s rotational direction during welding, the remaining amount of powder, and the proper operation of the feeder. The top end of the storage container is equipped with a control valve, allowing for the addition of powder during the machine’s operation without interruption. The outlet of the storage container is fitted with a stepper motor connected to the powder feeder’s control box, which intelligently manages the activation and volume of the powder feed. Precautions for Adding Powder to the Powder Feeder:

The particle size of the welding powder generally ranges from 80 to 200 mesh. If the particle size is too small, the powder can easily be blown away, leading to a low material utilization rate. If the particle size is too large, it can clog the welding torch and tubing, potentially ruining the torch. Therefore, before adding the welding powder, it should be sifted to prevent clumping and other issues that can affect the welding quality and damage the welding equipment.
