Thermal Spray Systems

Our mission is to be at the forefront of technological innovation and to deliver superior thermal spray system solutions with maximized cost efficiencies. To this end, we will strive to integrate all our resources and capabilities so as to provide our customers with professionalized and one-stop thermal spray system solution.

What Is Thermal Spray Systems?

Thermal Spray technology involves the use of high-temperature arcs or flames to heat coating materials, usually in the form of wires or powders, transforming them into small molten droplets that are rapidly sprayed onto the surface of a substrate.
This technique finds widespread application on metal substrates, and at times, on plastic or ceramic bases. Through Thermal Spray System, a dense and robust protective layer is formed on the substrate surface. This process significantly enhances the substrate’s wear resistance and corrosion resistance, thereby extending the product’s lifespan and adaptability to various environments. Materials used for thermal spray coatings include metals, ceramics, and polymer-based ceramics.
One of the notable advantages of thermal spray technology lies in its minimal impact on the substrate. The quality of the coating can be evaluated by measuring parameters such as porosity, oxide content, hardness, residual stress, and the bonding strength between the coating and the substrate. Generally, higher particle velocities during spraying result in superior coating quality.

Thermal Spray Solutions

Our primary Thermal Spray Solutions are detonation, high-velocity oxygen fuel (HVOF), plasma, flame, and arc.

Plasma Spray Systems

Plasma spraying is considered to be the most multifaceted of the thermal spray processes.

Flame Spraying

This process is low cost and can easily be performed in the shop or onsite.

Arc Spraying

Arc spraying is relatively cost-effective and readily functional in the field.

Detonation Spraying

Gas and powder are combined in controlled detonations and blasted at supersonic speeds onto the part.

High-Velocity Oxygen Fuel

This process is relatively new and has propelled the thermal spray application range into places that used to be unreachable.

Cold Spraying

Also known as: Cold Gas Dynamic Spray, The beam temperature is low, generally 0 ~ 600°C, the highest is only 1000°C.

Thermal Spraying Advantages And Disadvantages

The coating materials for Thermal Spray Systems offer a variety of options, including ceramics, metals, alloys, metal ceramics, carbides, plastics, and other polymers, etc. In practical applications, the choice of coating materials depends on the substrate material and specific usage requirements. By applying wear-resistant or corrosion-resistant coatings on the surface of the substrate, we can relax the stringent requirements for the base material. This allows us to use more affordable materials to accomplish tasks that were previously impossible, resulting in significant cost savings.
The thickness of coatings in thermal spray systems can be tailored to our needs. They can be very thin and dense, or thicker with high cohesion, depending on our requirements. Most coatings in thermal spray systems form a strong physical bond with the substrate, although some coatings diffuse into the substrate during heat treatment, creating a more robust bond. During thermal spraying, the melting point of the coating material can be higher than that of the substrate. Moreover, most products to be coated do not require preheating or surface treatment beforehand.
The output heat in thermal spray systems is flexible and controllable, catering to different spraying scenarios. Additionally, these systems can be used for refurbishing parts, offering substantial cost savings compared to replacing new parts. The versatility and controllability of thermal spray systems greatly enhance the lifespan and safety of our products while also reducing our costs.
